Hi, I currently own 26 domain names that I wish to sell as a package rather than individually. All 26 of the domains I own are top-level ‘.com’ domains (TLDs). Each of the ‘.com’ domains I own are exact duplicates of ‘.com.au’ domains owned by large established Australian companies, who use the ‘.com.au’ domain for their website. I have obtained each of these ‘.com’ addresses because these companies have either forgotten to register the domain in the first place, or have failed to renew their ‘.com’ counterpart. For example (not real): -CompanyX uses the domain CompanyX.com.au-I own the domain CompanyX.com Almost all of these successful companies are large established mining companies in Australia. On average, each of these companies have assets totaling AU $138 million each (US $107 million each). One of these companies in particular has assets over AU $1 billion, while two others have AU $963 million and AU $880 million. Furthermore, each company is also listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). Many of these companies are now expanding overseas, which is another reason why owning the ‘.com’ of their company name should be crucial to their marketing. From my research, the vast majority other publicly listed companies in Australia that have a ‘.com.au’ website, also own the ‘.com’ version as well – not including these that I have gradually obtained. My original plan for these domains was to setup individual web pages on each and wait to be contacted by any party wishing to purchase the domain. Alternatively, I was planning to setup mining-related affiliate PPC links for visitors to the sites. Unfortunately I never got around to doing either. However, I still continue to receive large amounts of mis-directed business related emails that these domains collect. I have been reluctant to approach any of these companies as I am aware of the cyber squatting policies that exist. Nevertheless, I am also now aware of many individuals that continue to sell domains of this nature for hefty price tags (sometimes for no other reason than the other party being unaware of such policies) Additionally, it costs $1500 for a trademark holder to pursue a cyber squatter through WIPO, so one would think that they would be inclined to purchase the desired domain for a price less than this amount. However due to the large number of domains in this portfolio, if a company truly wished to acquire the ‘.com’ domain without payment, you could simply transfer the domain to them for free, without running into legal problems. I would have tried this method myself but I believe it would take some time to setup an appropriate web page, make contact then negotiate with the company for the sale of the domain, and that’s something I don’t have at the moment. Furthermore, I need an immediate sale on the package of these domains as I’m moving overseas before the end of January. I’m obviously not going to list the domains in question on this forum.
