Default Making Money on a Gaming site?

Hi,
Please move this thread if its in the wrong place!

Anyway, here goes. I am the lead designer at a very popular online entertainment site, www.clubskill.com. We get hundreds of thousands of page views each month, and have a steady flow of around 20,000 unique visitors per month. We have very good relationships with major gaming companies such as Sega and and DigitalJesters who regularly provide us with 'freebies'. We've recently been working on a new website design which allows for more usability, flexibility and advertising. We have been, in the past, a completly non-profit organisation but I was hoping we can start to steer into the direction of profit, so that the staff and the contributors can all get a bit of cash into their pockets for all the hard work they put in. What Im really trying to get at is what sort of things should I try to implement that would get us money. For example, we have a bit of space for advertisements...where should I look for them? (e.g. I dont want Adsense etc because a) Everyone has them/seen them b) They dont look professional on a gaming site! )

We're really trying to go up in the world, and to do so we need income.

Any ideas?

Hi
I sell quite a bit of advertsing space on my websites, and I would recommend the best way to go about it is simply to e-mail potential advertisers. You say you already have good relationships with Sega and DigitalJesters, so I'd contact their promotions department first and offer them a deal. I think you'll be suprised at how easy it is to get potential advertisers, I certainly was
Good luck and really nice site!

1. Look at what other similar sites are doing to generate revenue.
2. Make sure you have good stats on your site - because no advertiser will give money if they are not convinced that there will be a return on their investment.

I agree!

Make sure you can provide your advertising with stats and some evidence of why it will be such a good idea to advertise with your site.

Other than that, I am doing alright with Adsense.

Maybe you could try Chitika, or just check and see what other sites are using to generate revenue.
