Reagrding recomendation of domain brokers and appraisers... I tried many of them and I agree with you that most of those sites are waste of time and money. I usually use the following sites to find good names for sale.

Large collection of premium names for reasonable prices.

www.FastDomainSales.com They provide fast support online and offer free escrow. When I used other brokers like Aftrenic.com etc, I had to wait for several days before I get an answer via email. If i have any doubts regarding the price I use domain appraisal service of FastDomainsales.com to determine value of domain or web site. It helps me not to overpay.
